A Celebration of Nebraska’s grasslands, stories, and communities will be held at three featured sites in Cherry, Buffalo, and Keith County on June 13, Aug. 4, and Sept. 26.
Grassland Gallery: Film & Art Inspired by the Range is a free, multidisciplinary event celebrating the agriculture, landscapes, and people of Nebraska’s grasslands. Rooted in rural stories and shaped by the land itself, the event brings together film screenings, visual art, and immersive place-based experiences to foster connection, learning, and creative exchange.
The Grassland Gallery is accepting applications from visual and musical artists, rangeland filmmakers, and agricultural host sites. The event is also accepting applications from food vendors, professional organizations, and agricultural companies interested in hosting free educational booths.
Deadlines for submissions follow:
● Applications for the June 13 must be submitted by May 29.
● Applications for the August 4 must be submitted by July 10.
● Applications for the September 26, must be submitted by August 15.
Host Sites:
June 13 - Cherry County, family-owned and operated for five generations, Diamond Lazy J Ranch specializes in purebred Angus and Balancer cattle, while Niobrara Valley Vineyards produces approximately 30,000 bottles of Nebraska-grown wine annually and distributes to nearly 90 retail outlets statewide.
Aug. 4 - Buffalo County, the 2026 Nebraska Grazing Conference (NGC) is the 26th Annual Conference in the long history of serving Nebraska’s graziers. The 2026 Conference will be held on August 4th and 5th at the Younes Conference Center South in Kearney, NE. Grasslands Gallery will be showcased from 5-7 p.m. CT during a celebration of the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists.
Sept. 28 - Keith County, founded in 1884 and operated by the Haythorn family for six generations, Haythorn Land & Cattle Co. is one of Nebraska’s most historic and respected working ranches. The ranch raises commercial Black Angus cattle and foundation-bred American Quarter Horses on the native grass-stabilized dunes of the Sandhills.
