The latest results from crop and livestock research at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s High Plains Ag Lab (HPAL) near Sidney, as well as administrative and business updates, will be presented March 2 in Sidney.
The meeting, will start at 8:30 a.m. on the Sidney Campus of Western Nebraska Community College, is for the public as well as the HPAL Advisory Board. For questions, call the High Plains Ag Lab at 308-254-3918.

- Director’s update by Jack Whittier, director of the Panhandle Research and Extension Center
- Operations update by Jake Hansen, HPAL farm manager
- Research updates:
— Herbicide evaluations with Cody Creech, extension-dryland cropping systems specialist;
— Wheat stem sawfly and sunflower insect management with Jeff Bradshaw, extension entomologist;
— Pea variety trials with Vernon Florke, ag research technician;
— High-carbon char soil amendments with Bijesh Maharjan, extension soil and nutrient management specialist
— Annual forages with Mitch Stephenson, extension range and forage management specialist; and
— The feeding value of field peas with Karla Jenkins, extension cow-calf and range management specialist.
