PREEC welcomes new IT Senior Workstation Support Associate

The University of Nebraska -Lincoln’s Panhandle Research Extension and Education Center has welcomed Matt Payne as its new Senior Workstation Support Associate on Oct. 23. 

As a Senior Workstation Support Associate, he will support all of the Panhandle Extension Offices' technology needs.

Payne is not new to the Panhandle. He was born and raised in Gering and, after graduating from Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyo., Payne returned to the area and began his career in IT at Bytes Computer & Networking Solutions. He was there for 10 years and attained several hardware and software support certifications. In the last eight years, Payne has been serving the residents and staff in the healthcare setting at Northfield Retirement Communities.

An avid Husker fan, Payne and his wife have two daughters, ages 8 and 12 years old, who keep them busy. The family is involved in several activities, including 4-H (rockets and horses), sports, and nature adventures in the family hay fields.
