Welcome the 2026 Wheat Variety Tours

The annual Wheat Variety Tours hosted by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Crop Performance Testing Program, local farmer-cooperators, university farm managers, and tour sponsors be held June 10, and 15-18.

Seven fields will be featured from Jefferson to Banner County will be highlighted, showcasing unique wheat varieties and experimental lines being tested across the state. The Department of Agronomy and Horticulture’s associate professor Cody Creech and research associate professor Amanda Easterly will lead the tours. They will be joined by Katherine Frels, agronomy and horticulture assistant professor and small grains breeder, and Stephen Wegulo, Department of Plant Pathology small grains plant pathologist, who will provide updates and answer questions. Seed industry partners will also share insights. Previous years’ data and multi-year, multi-location summaries can be found at https://go.unl.edu/wsvt

As in the past, if you visit a field on your own, coordinate with local farmer-cooperators or farm managers before visiting a site. Fields are generally surrounded by border plots/passes and may be co-located with other experiments. General layout with other experiments is noted on the maps. While the GPS coordinates are not exact, they should take you close to the plot. At most sites, an orange stake is placed in the first row. Maps are laid out with the first plot always in the bottom left-hand corner. North arrows indicate cardinal directions. Wheat varieties on the tour are HRW class unless denoted with ( + ) indicating HWW.
